About the event

Lineup:

  • False Futures

False Futures - Hailing from all corners of the UK before convening in the grassroots melange of London, False Futures’ rough-cut brand of indie-rock marries hard-nosed riffs and acerbic lyricism with a deep rooted passion for the crowd-pleasing choruses of classic 90s/00s guitar music. Initially formed at the end of 2023 and armed hitherto with only a bunch of SoundCloud demos to their name, the band’s brief career can already boast shows supporting modern shoegaze legends bdrmm at their sold-out Scala show, in addition to slots opening for Picture Parlour, Talk Show and Lip Filler. With their debut headline coming next Friday at The Victoria in Dalston, the self- produced ‘Fire Movement’ - out today (25th March), complete with piano-driven B-side ‘Alisters Conundrum’ - offers a much anticipated formal introduction to the band ahead of further releases for the year ahead.m Offering more background into the track, lead vocalist/songwriter Mat Conner says: “I remember aiming for something the Pixies might write if they were trying to write a Blur track: a song that played with dissonance and resolution and tension, but that also had a light-hearted, pop feel to it. These kinds of opposing forces are in everything we do. If it’s hard, it’s very hard; if it’s soft and delicate, it’s very soft and delicate.”
