About the event
Lineup:
Sam Prekop & John McEntire
"Every track is awash in sumptuous, eminently hummable melodies; the album swells with a newfound sense of joy." - Pitchfork, Best New Music
"For the past 30-plus years, Prekop and McEntire have been involved in some of the best of -the-beaten-path music to emerge from the Chicago experimental/indie scene, be it together as members of the Sea and Cake or as solo artists and producers. It’s no surprise then that their first album as a duo is a stone-cold stunner, filtering their distinct sensibilities through all manner of vintage synthesizers, ef ects, and samplers... Sons Of is the rare album capable of soundtracking dead-of-night, soul-searching drives, one-man dance parties, and impromptu romance — maybe all in the same evening" - SPIN, Best Albums of 2022 #17
Sam Prekop is a Chicago-based musician, composer, and visual artist best known as the frontman of The Sea and Cake, whose solo work explores lush modular synthesizer compositions and experimental pop. Over the past two decades he has built a distinctive sound that blends minimalism, melody, and warm electronic textures.
John McEntire is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and recording engineer widely recognized for his work with Tortoise and as a member of The Sea and Cake. Renowned for his detailed production style and inventive percussion, McEntire has helped shape the sound of modern experimental and indie music both in the studio and on stage.
