About the event

Lineup:

  • The Pennydrops

  • Caroline Trettine

  • Handsome Waitress

  • Zak Stichcombe

  • Lottie Brazier

The Pennydrops - The band's sound takes influence from a multitude of genres, shades of Fleetwood Mac crash into dashes of Radiohead, driven by mutual childhoods that were shaped by The Beatles. The songs themselves, often comment on the injustices of the modern western world, the pressures on creative and alternative people to 'fit in' and how this affects our own sense of morality. Witty yet wistful lyrics delivered by warm, interweaving voices, The Pennydrops have a genre-bending sound that is both fresh but nostalgic.

Caroline Trettine - Caroline Trettine, a former singer-writer with The Blue Aeroplanes, achieved cult success with her record ‘Be a Devil’ in the 1990s, on Billy Bragg’s ‘Utility’ label, managed by the legendary Pete Jenner. She has since had an eclectic journey through music e.g. songs, beats, strings, musicals, rock, folk and poetry. Compared to Sandy Denny when she was young, she has acquired the smoky edges of Lotte Lenya, a grown-up artist, performing authentic unplugged folk-cabaret. Writing for orchestras, synths, indie bands, fusion etc. makes her composing styles varied, drawing from her capacious musical imagination…

Zak Stinchcombe - brings together a love of English folk and American rock and roll in his melodic guitar playing and his rich lyric writing to produce songs entirely of his own voice. He has played prolifically across the circuit and has released 3 EPs. Following a brief hiatus after the birth of his daughter, he is currently writing his debut album for her.

Lottie Brazier - Lottie Brazier is a North London-based, Essex-born and Suffolk-raised musician, producerandwriter, drawing on post-punk, ambient and pop lineages. Her songs are rooms, stark landscapesand train windows, telling stories of isolation, romantic confrontation and hysterical strength. Inspired by past non-conforming musicians and writers, Lottie’s debut album ‘On Course ButNo-one There To Salute You’ is brooding outsider pop, exploring androgynous vocals, detailedguitar melodies, revelatory choruses and uncanny dreamworld synths. It was mixed at 4AD byFabian Prynn and co-produced/mixed by Hand of Glory co-founder Will Twynham. Her debut track ‘Washing Machine’ was produced by William Doyle and was featured on TheGuardian’s single picks of the week, BBC 6 Music show Iggy Pop’s Confidential, Dazed’s ‘Theonly tracks you need to hear’ and TheQuietus’ ‘Music of the Month’

Handsome Waitress - London-based alternative band and purveyors of fresh denim. Inspired their eclectic mix from soul and blues to post-punk. Handsome Waitress formed in 2023, and have been performing across London ever since. Their debut EP 'Smoke Signals from the Kitchen' featured songs they wrote in their formative period. They are set to release their second EP “Denim” - six folk and gospel tinged indie pop songs, inspired by the rural Welsh coastal town of Borth, and converted chapel turned studio, where they were recorded. Lyrically introspective and heartfelt, detailing lead singer Daisi Jayne’s experience with depression, anxiety and search for purpose as a woman in her twenties navigating work, relationships, and life in London.
