About the event
Dual headline show:
Sephine Llo
Astra Forward
Sephine Llo - is a British composer and multi-instrumentalist, with an unconventional song-writing style that marries 18th Century UK folk roots, neoclassical flourishes and organically created glitchy electronica. A classically trained and multi award-winning artist (with the AMS Neve award for creative recording accolade, among others); and holder of a coveted First-Class Honours degree from the world-renowned Tonmeister course, her sound is an innovative and rich concoction of grave, distorted soundscapes wrapping around her heart-wrenching orchestrations, and uniquely ethereal, often choral-esque vocal harmonies. Her debut EP Flame (2014, Tape Club Records) and first album I, Your Moon (October 2017, Tape Club Records), garnered attention from the likes of Wonderland, 405, Clash, BBC3 Late Junction and Radio X ‘Xposure’ and she performed at many prestigious venues and festivals including Union Chapel and at Wilderness Festival. After the loss of her husband Robbie (Autumn Chorus) to cancer when she was pregnant with their first child, grief and lone-motherhood put an untimely hiatus on her creative career for several years; gratefully now she is back and has brought us her latest and most personal account to date, "Diamond Fall", incorporating samples of Robbie's unfinished works, and released on what would have been their 10th wedding anniversary.
Astra Forward - Astra Forward is an SE London-based alt-folk/experimental singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer, writing songs about the power of nature and human connection. Her work explores grief and mysticism, seeking to provide both comfort and immersion to the listener. The Astra Forward EP ‘Dawn Dusk’ was recorded in East Iceland following a month-long creative residency, supported by Help Musicians. Astra has performed extensively throughout Europe and the UK as part of Diagrams (Sam Genders/Tunng) and has written with Erland Cooper on the title track of his album Sule Skerry. Her vocals feature on ‘Billie and Mollie: an Otter Love Story’.
